Memorial Day - Flag Installation At Cemetery

02/28/2018

Council: 13181 - SABATTUS

Project Description:

Brother Knight Robert Michaud, along with his family and fellow Boy Scout Leader Tim Robinson and his family went to the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston, ME following the Memorial Day Parade in Sabattus. The purpose for going there was to assist in the planting of flags at each of the graves of servicemen interred at the cemetery. This was a solemn and moving experience for all of us as we either have veteran’s in our family buried there (Robert’s grandfather) or in the case of Mr. Robinson, who is an Army veteran himself and in particular was part of the “Old Guard” whose responsibility was Arlington National Cemetery. The importance of recognizing the sacrifice of the brave men and women who served their country and signified the value of life by their services was not lost on the children – Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, who assisted in this activity.
